Know Thine Enemy 14

Victory over Satan is won by giving Him no place, no toe-holds. The following passage teaches several specific ways in which we give Satan place. The way to stop giving Satan place is to receive Christ, give one*s life to Him and live it the way He wants you to.

Ephesians 4:22-32: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ*s sake hath forgiven you.

We have already discussed one of Satan*s devices which is to plant apostasy and heretics in God*s churches. Apostasy and heretics do great harm and we must learn who they are, and fight against them and the harm they do.

Matthew 13:25: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Matthew 24:24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep*s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Proverbs 6:16: These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Satan wants men to be proud, to lie, to kill the innocent, to have wicked imaginations, to run to mischief and he will sow false spiritual leaders among believers who will attempt to get between believers and between believers and God and wreck their relationships with one another and with God.

1 Thessalonians 2:18: Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

If Satan hindered the Apostle Paul, he will certainly make every effort to hinder you and me.

1 Peter 3:7: Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Luke 12:53: The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

In addition to causing discord in bodies of believers, Satan will create all the discord he possibly can in marriages and families and among nations.
